Transcontinental Media has announced the sale of 27 community newspapers and one online publication in Atlantic Canada to Saltwire Network, the parent company of the Halifax Chronicle-Herald.
About 650 employees are affected by the sale and Transcontinental says they will be given job offers by Saltwire Network.
Transcontinental says it will be retaining its two printing plants in the region – one in Borden-Carleton, PEI and the other in Halifax.
The Sackville Tribune-Post is the only newspaper in New Brunswick that is part of the sale.
Others include the Amherst News, Charlottetown Guardian and Summerside Journal-Pioneer.
