The flooding crisis around the Saint John River Basin has prompted a Charlotte County company to step up and help out.
Cooke Aquaculture sent 10,000 sand bags on Wednesday to Grand Bay-Westfield and the Kennebecasis Valley areas. This morning the Blacks Harbour based company dispatched three boats to the same areas with professional personnel to help with flooding efforts.
Joel Richardson, Vice President of Public Relations with Cooke Aquaculture, says, “The three boats can hold up to thirty-six people and can be used to help move people from flooded areas, or move goods and supplies to areas where flood waters have cut off access.”
Richardson says the boats can also be used to quickly move emergency personnel or for other emergency response needs.
The boats were put on standby last week after the company offered their support. The boats were trailered from St. George this morning for staging and assignment with the Emergency Measures Organization in New Brunswick.
