Elections NB is in full preparation mode this summer as the province’s fixed election date approaches on September 24th.
CEO Kim Poffenroth says returning officers from the 49 electoral districts are undergoing a wide range of training including setting up polling stations.
“We’ve got at this point two warehouse spaces which are full of materials to be shipped out and that includes everything from pens and pencils for the offices to the tabulation machines and printers that will be used – computers that are used – across the province,” she says.
Poffenroth says some training for poll workers who deal directly with voters will likely continue up until the advance polls on September 15th and 17th.
The writ is expected to be issued on August 23rd for a 32 day campaign.
