The NHL hockey rivalry between the Montreal Canadiens and the Toronto Maple Leafs is alive and well in Atlantic Canada.
In a recent poll carried out by Corporate Research Associates found the Habs had 26 percent support in the region while the Leafs had 20 percent.
The Boston Bruins had 5 percent support and the Pittsburgh Penguins picked up 4 percent.
In addition, 17 percent said they don’t follow hockey and women are more likely than men to not watch or follow the NHL.
New Brunswickers tend to prefer the Canadiens while a favourite team is not as clear in the other three Atlantic provinces.
More than 1500 adults were questioned by CRA during the telephone poll conducted in November.
