In the coming year a request for proposals is going to be issued for a new Sain John City Hall space which could represent up to 400-thousand-dollars a year in savings for the city depending on the outcome.
That’s according to mayor Don Darling who says they have about 70-thousand square feet of space right now and it’s believed that could be brought down to the 40 to 45-thousand range. The Mayor says it doesn’t make economic sense to pay for space the city isn’t using.
Darling says they want to be in the uptown core.
As well, the head tower of the City Market is nine thousand square feet and when it’s renovated and cleaned up some of the city staff will be going there.
