The Peel Plaza parking garage performs well when accepting people and their vehicles but during high volume times it can struggle with letting them out.
After the Theresa Caputo show at Harbour Station, several people that parked in that garage couldn’t leave because after they paid the gate did not go up.

Ian MacKinnon is the CEO of the Saint John Transit and Parking Commission and says the issue is inconsistent and only happens when the garage is full because of a high profile events at Harbour Station.
CHSJ News learned some people were stuck in there for up to 90 minutes.
He says Peel Plaza is a highly utilized parking space during events and while he doesn’t know exactly how long the wait time was, he can confirm they were high.
MacKinnon says they had trouble figuring out exactly what the problem is where it only seems to occurr when the parking garage is full.
He confirms a third party contractor has been hired and work is underway to fix it.
