Premier Brian Gallant is taking charge of what the provincial government is going to do to further economic development in this part of the province.
Gallant says he will be the Regional Minister for Saint John and southwestern New Brunswick heading into next year’s provincial election. The official announcement will be made this morning at City Hall.
He maintains his government has not ignored Charlotte County and protected the hospital in St. Stephen as well as establishing a bus connection between Saint John and St. Stephen. The future of the Charliotte County Hospital has generated a lot of controversy in Charlotte County.
Gallant says his government has already invested a lot of money in the Saint John area, pointing to modernising the port, the Saint John Fieldhouse, the City Market, the Imperial Theatre, the trades building at the community college as well as renovations at the Regional Hospital.
