Prime Minister Justin Trudeau shuffled his cabinet today, shifting responsibilities for six ministers and adding five new faces around the table.
Beausejour MP Dominic LeBlanc has been promoted to minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, Northern Affairs and Internal Trade.
LeBlanc says he will now be focusing on building relationships with the other provinces and territories.
“One of the big challenges, obviously the prime minister asked me to focus on, is reducing internal trade barriers. Of all of these measures, if we work cooperatvely and constructively with our partners in the federation, give us an opportunity to improve the Canadian economy,” he notes.
LeBlanc had been the minister of Fisheries and Oceans and the Coast Guard which has been shifted to Vancouver area MP Jonathan Wilkinson, who is new to cabinet.
Moncton-Riverview-Dieppe MP Ginette Petitpas Taylor is staying in her role as minister of Health.
New Brunswick’s eight other MP’s remain outside the inner circle.
