More flights will soon be coming and going at the Saint John Airport (YSJ).
Air Canada is increasing the number of flights between YSJ and the Toronto Pearson Airport.
Starting next summer, there will be three daily flights to and from Ontario’s provincial capital.
It is one of several changes announced by the country’s largest airline earlier this week.
Air Canada currently has two daily round trips between Saint John and Toronto. It also offers one round trip each day between Saint John and Montreal.
This summer, the airline slashed an average of 77 round trips, or 154 flights, per day as it grappled with a series of challenges.
YSJ lost two of its four daily round trips as part of the cuts, leaving it with one daily round trip to Toronto and one to Montreal.
The Saint John Region Chamber of Commerce sent a letter to Air Canada’s president in August expressing concerns about the impact of the flight reductions on the city and business community.
Air Canada reinstated the Saint John-to-Toronto daily round trip in late October. There is no word on when the Saint John-to-Montreal round trip may be brought back.
